Perks of Being a Wallflower trailer/live chat on Sunday

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a really beautiful 1999 coming-of-age novel by Stephen Chbosky. If you haven’t read it, it’s certainly worth taking a look at. Chbosky is at the helm of the film adaptation of his own book, with Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller as the young and troubled leads.

The film will be out in limited release on September 14th. The trailer for the film will debut June 3rd (this Sunday) at the MTV Movie Awards pre-show. There’s a live chat/trailer viewing party which you can join here at 8:30 PST/11:30 EST. Chbosky will be there along with Lerman and Miller.

I wonder how they’ll incorporate the epistolary format of the novel into the film or if they’ll just do away with that entirely, and I also wonder if the movie will still take place in the early 90s. Regardless, I’ll be rereading my copy toward the end of summer before watching the film.

The movie poster for The Perks of Being a Wallflower maintains that oogie green of the book cover. Head to the gallery to check it out, and to feel infinite like Charlie.
