Pics and concept art for Wachowskis/Tykwer Cloud Atlas

Thanks to the people at Collider, we’ve got a new image and some concept art for the film version of Cloud Atlas. The novel by David Mitchell is being adapted to the big screen by The Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer, and it could be a real marvel to behold when it comes out in October 2012. The book involves six narratives that intertwine, each taking place in a different time and place. We have a glimpse of Seoul in the year 2144 as well as actress Bae Doona inhabiting that time period.

I’ve also included a photo of The Wachowskis, Tykwer, Mitchell, and the film’s producers on the final day of shooting. Around them are the various props from the stories in Cloud Atlas. It’ll be interesting to see how The Wachowskis and Tykwer handle the narrative shifts of the novel, and I wonder if audiences will even be receptive to this kind of undertaking. Yet even if Cloud Atlas winds up being a box office bomb, it will be an ambitious bomb (which is the best kind). In the meantime, check out what we’ve got in the gallery.
