Jackie Chan’s Police Story trilogy is getting a 4K UHD release

We rarely post about physical media here on Flixist as most people have moved on to streaming their films. That hasn’t stopped me from amassing a collection of discs, specifically Kung Fu films, since those rarely are available anywhere. That’s what makes today’s news so exciting: boutique label Eureka Entertainment has announced that it will be releasing the legendary Police Story trilogy in 4K UHD this September.

As revealed on the company’s Twitter account, the brand new boxset will include the first three films from Jackie Chan’s Police Story saga remastered in 4K with HDR color grading. It comes with artwork by artist Kung Fu Bob O’Brien and a host of special features (that haven’t been announced just yet0.

If you already have the first two films, either from the excellent Criterion boxset or Eureka’s own UK release, you’ll be able to grab Police Story 3: Supercop separately. Sadly, this version will not be in 4K, but it still marks the first time the film will be hitting the UK in its complete form.

The best part about 4K UHD discs is that they are region-free, so if you have a compatible player (a PS5 and Xbox Series X will suffice), you’re good to go. No need to worry about regions or incompatibility. I’d recommend it, too, as Police Story is simply excellent.
