Poor people are the most dangerous game in trailer for The Hunt

I know you might be surprised that the above trailer (that shows pretty much the entire movie) for The Hunt is not some kind of spin-off from The Purge as it follows the same theme of rich people being able to do whatever the hell they want with impunity while the poor suffer, but that’s one particular angle with so much depth and possibility that we might as well plunder it for all it’s worth. The more movies that cast the uber-wealthy as monsters the better, in my humble opinion.

This one is yet another film inspired by that story you read in middle school, “The Most Dangerous Game.” It does feel a bit more timely, though, since the script hammers hard on the rich-versus-poor conceit and injects some dark humor that should elevate all this into an energetic and cathartic experience.

That isn’t much of a surprise, since The Hunt has Damon Lindelof’s same tongue-in-cheek attitude as what he’s bringing to his surprisingly good-looking Watchmen adaptation.

The Hunt stars Betty Gilpin and Hillary Swank and will stalk theaters on September 27, 2019.
