Red Band Trailer: God Bless America

Bobcat Goldthwait’s not just a lovable, snarling comic actor. He may be on his way to becoming a reliably sharp, biting director of dark comedies. Goldthwait’s previous film, World’s Greatest Dad, was like an examination of the James Frey memoir scandal through Heathers-tinted glasses. Judging by this red band trailer for God Bless America, it looks like he’s doing a riff on Falling Down by way of Super and Idiocracy. Here’s a synopsis:

Loveless, jobless, and possibly terminally ill, Frank has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and decides to off the stupidest, cruelest, and most repellent members of society with an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy, who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement.

Admit it: at your most annoyed and misanthropic, you’ve probably joked about stuff like this too. God Bless America will be out in April on VOD and in theaters in May. We’ve got the film’s poster for you in the gallery.
