Regal Entertainment and Sony bring subtitle glasses

Subtitle glasses in movie theaters are a concept that isn’t exactly new, but weren’t used practically until just recently. Now, Sony and Regal Entertainment Group have partnered to bring their Access Glasses to “practically all” of Regal’s digital theaters in the U.S. The glasses will work for both 2D and 3D movies, and can provide subtitles in six different languages. For the visually impaired, the glasses can also provide “descriptive audio” when used in conjunction with headphones.

Regal states that the glasses are already being distributed as of this month, and that they should be in all of their 500+ digital theaters by first quarter 2013.
