Back in March, a bidding war broke out for the rights to adapt Voltron: Defender of the Universe into a live-action film. Buried amidst the past weekend full of superheroes, sparkly vampires, and sin was word that Relativity Media and Atlas Entertainment won the rights and have optioned a live adaptation of the cartoon revolving around robot lions that combine together to form a giant mecha.

Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) and Richard Suckle will produce the film. As previously reported, the script will be handled by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (Conan the Barbarian). No director or casting announcements were made, leaving us on the Internet to fuel speculation. Go forth and make your dream casting, Internet-dwellers!
