The Darkest Hour (2011) Official Clip "Reporter Killed on Camera"

On Christmas Day, invisible aliens will steal electricity and turn people into piles of ashes in The Darkest Hour. (Tis the season.) No doubt this was inspired by my unpublished trilogy of novels about the electric gremlin from Gremlins 2: The New Batch. We’ve previously brought you the official trailer and an international mood piece and featurette for the film, and now a viral video has surfaced.

In the video above, a Russian reporter gets blowed up real good on camera. The previous day, he did a human interest piece on the implosion of a matryoshka doll factory in Podolsk. This, my friends, is the beautiful comic tragedy of human existence.

Note how the cameraman and the reporter’s producer say nothing once their colleague gets killed. Was the guy a jerk or something? Or does this happen all the time over there? Seriously, is this the Russian equivalent of falling down while crushing wine grapes for a morning show? Holy crap.
