Retro Woman in Black poster looks like vintage Hammer art

0

It’s always nice to see a poster with craftsmanship in it. None of that simple Photoshop nonsense that was done in an afternoon, but art with some actual personality. Since The Woman in Black is Hammer Studios’s return to the Gothic horror that made them famous, it makes sense that this retro poster for the film should recreate the style of a classic Hammer poster.

Overall, it’s a nice homage to Tom Chantrell, the artist of many Hammer posters of the past, but it doesn’t quite have the same dynamism of a real Chantrell. Regardless, I hope Hammer does these sorts of posters for all of their films from now on.

We’ve got the full poster for you in the gallery. Also feel free to check out a three different trailers for The Woman in Black. If you’re interested in the history of Hammer Studios, check out our piece on The Hammer Vault, a beautiful full-color book chronicling the company’s output since 1954.
