Fans of Brick, (500) Days of Summer, and amazing acting should be pleased with this news: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is confirmed to have a role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Dark Knight Rises. Furthermore, his casting in the film represents no less than three separate reunions.
According to First Showing, Gordon-Levitt will be re-united with his Inception director’s The Dark Knight Rises following the end of his other reunion with Brick director, Rian Johnson’s, next film, Looper. It’s being widely speculated that Gordon-Levitt will be playing another Batman villain to join his Inception co-star, Tom Hardy, and Havoc co-star, Anne Hathaway. The popular vote is he’ll be playing The Riddler, as made famous by Jim Carrey in Batman Forever.
Personally, and this is a definite long shot, I think he’d make the perfect Dick Grayson/Robin. However, I think Nolan’s stated he wouldn’t touch Robin in his trilogy, but if Warner Bros. were to continue the Batman series past Nolan’s and Christian Bale’s commitments, Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be the perfect actor to continue the legacy with. Anybody who’s seen Brick already know how much of a bad ass he can be (and if you haven’t, Netflix has you covered).[via First Showing]
