RiffTrax Live 2017 Kickstarter underway: Samurai Cop, beach party, and surprise film

0

Last year, RiffTrax held a special live Mystery Science Theater 3000 reunion. Like the MST3K reboot, the reunion was made possible through Kickstarter. Mike J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett are back this year with a new crowdfunding campaign for three live RiffTrax events that will be simulcast at theaters around the country.

The three proposed live RiffTrax Live events for 2017 are:

  • Samurai Cop on April 13th
  • A short film beach party on June 15th
  • A mystery show on August 17th

Yup, Samurai Cop, the schlock masterpiece we covered on The Cult Club many moons ago.

Check out the pitch video below.

Two special guest riffers are confirmed for these events: Mary Jo Pehl and Bridget Nelson, both of whom were staples of the Mike-era of MST3K. Funding incentives include signed posters, copies of Samurai Cop, digital downloads, and the chance to write a riff for the live shows.

There are 31 days to go and the RiffTrax team is already over the halfway mark. Make it happen, folks. Make it happen.
