Roger Deakins talks Skyfall and film vs digital

0

Roger Deakins is one of the most respected cinematographers working today, so when he weighs into the film vs digital debate, it’s an opinion worth hearing. Turns out he comes down confidently on the side of digital, which won’t please many traditionalists (myself included), but it’s fascinating to hear him justify his opinion based on his working methods.

The interview was conducted at IBC 2012 (International Broadcasters Convention) in Amsterdam, and  mainly focuses on Deakins’ work on the upcoming Bondstravaganza, Skyfall. He talks about the IMAX conversion and convincing Sam Mendes to shoot digitally rather than on film, in addition to offering some minor details on the movie’s opening sequence. It’s a terrific interview no matter what side of the debate you fall on, so give it a watch and let us know what you think in the comments below.
