From the producers of Bojack Horseman, Amazon is bringing us this rotoscoped trip-fest that’s giving me some very good A Scanner Darkly vibes. Rotoscoping is a trend that never really took off like it should have.
The colors, the surreal nature that captures the wonder and dread of a dream, all come in full force as we see Alma, after a car accident, find she has a new ability that allows her to work with the elasticity of time. She uses this power to uncover the truth about her father’s death.
I’m definitely down to learn more about this, but it looks more like a movie than a series to me. My biggest issue of binge streaming these days is that mystery box ideas that could have been made into good films get stretched into series that continue long after my patience has worn out. I’m not much of a TV guy, though, so maybe it’s just me.
Undone will be a half-hour series and will hit Amazon’s streaming platform sometime soon.
