Rumor: Anne Hathaway interested in Barbarella project

What a mess. Back in 2008, Rose McGowan was assuring the world that she was confirmed for a Barbarella movie and that Robert Rodriguez was signed on as the director and that it was definitely happening. Years later the project seemed to have completely fallen apart, with Rose separating from Robert after Planet Terror, and currently being slated for a role in Conan the Barbarian and also set to star as the lead in Red Sonja.

Then early this morning, Pajiba tweeted that Anne Hathaway was now attached to the tentative Barbarella project, but that Robert Luketic (Killers, 21) is no longer signed on as the director. After getting in touch with one of Hathaway’s reps, IndieWire reports that Anne’s not officially attached to Barbarella or The Silver Linings Playbook, the other project she was rumored to be associated with. Silver Linings’ director David O. Russell (The Fighter, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune) hinted that she’s one of the actresses who has read the script and is in talks for the role, but that’s it.

So Hathaway and Barbarellais a word of mouth rumor at best, while only time will tell if…
