Rumor: Jackman offered $100 million to remain Wolverine

0

Get that salt ready, everyone: The National Enquirer says that Fox is looking to pay Hugh Jackman $100 million to play Wolverine in four more movies. Given the amount of money involved, this probably means four Wolverine-centric movies rather than just brief appearances or cameos. Yeah, it’s The Enquirer, but they get a few things right every now and then (e.g., John Edwards’ affair, Rush Limbaugh’s OxyContin problem).

$25 million per movie seems steep, especially if it’s just upfront. That’s about a fifth of The Wolverine‘s current domestic box office. (The movie has made more than $300 million worldwide.) Robert Downey Jr. scored a cool $50 million for The Avengers, but that included a good deal on the film’s box office earnings. Jackman is 44 years old, and if he does do four more Wolverine films, it’s likely he’d be in his early-to-mid 50s by the fourth film.

Do you think Hugh Jackman is worth $25 million a picture? Regardless of the rumored payday, here’s the more important question: do you think Hugh Jackman should stay on as Wolverine or pass the claws to someone else?
