Ryan Gosling in talks to star in Guillermo Del Toro’s Haunted Mansion

Good news, everyone! It looks like Guillermo Del Toro’s Haunted Mansion, based on the Disney ride of the same name, is finally back on track with Ryan Gosling in talks to star.

Del Toro first revealed Haunted Mansion back at Comic-Con 2010, where he told audiences it wouldn’t be a traditional comedy, and that “if you take your children, they will scream.” Since then we’ve heard next to nothing about the project, only a short reassurance it’s still in development, but with Gosling in talks to star, it might finally get going.

It makes all the sense in the world to see such a collaboration between Del Toro and Gosling, as they’ve become close friends in recent years. They skipped the Oscars to have fun at Disneyland, which in retrospect may have been a fun way to toss ideas about the project back and forth.

This is also fantastic news for those of us who love to see Gosling on screen, as he’s been absent since 2013′ Only God Forgives. He is also set to star in Terrence Malick’s next film, post-Knight of Cups, called Weightless. His directorial debut, Lost River, is also available on demand and in theatres as of today.
