Sam Raimi’s Quibi show, 50 States of Fright, gets a trailer

There is a lot of money and a lot of talent and a lot of marketing going into Quibi but I’m not sure it’s working. I know not a single person who is excited about the service, which seems more like an idea execs and investors are excited for rather than regular people. However, when Sam Raimi’s name comes up I pay attention and he’s the producer behind one of Quibi’s “shows,” 50 States of Fright and the trailer looks pretty good.

Raimi might not be directing the show but it has his staples all of it: campy blood, over cranked footage, and plenty of scares. The show will focus on an urban legend from all 50 states, with each short episode being about one. The first season features legends from Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Oregon and Washington. It’s also got a decent cast including Rachel Brosnahan, Travis Fimmel, Christina Ricci, Jacob Batalon, Ming-Na Wen, Taissa Farmiga, Asa Butterfield, John Marshall Jones, Ron Livingston, Victoria Justice, Karen Allen, Colin Ford, Alex Fitzalan, James Ransone, Emily Hampshire, Elizabeth Reaser, Rory Culkin, Warren Christie, Danay Garcia and William B. Davis.

None of that is really convincing me that I need to spend money on Quibi but the streamer is giving out 90 days free right now so that might be worth it. Then again I’d have to click on some buttons and give them information so maybe not. If you do sign up now you can watch 50 States of Fright a little early and for everyone else it will land on April 13.
