Seth Rogen & Crew go to Jamaica

I’m totally convinced 50/50 going to be great, and it has nothing to do with Seth Rogen fanboyism. My confidence lies in the fact that the creative team behind 50/50 have already been given the go-ahead to begin their next project by Mandate Pictures… and 50/50 hasn’t even been released yet! That’s how sure they are that it’s going to be awesome.

Their next film is called Jamaica and the plot is said to revolve around a 14-year-old boy who goes on vacation to Jamaica with his grandmother. That in itself sounds like a hilarious concept and is actually based around writer Will Reiser’s own experiences when his grandmother took him to the Caribbean islands when he was 14. Will Reiser, writer of both films, told Variety about how he felt about the new project:

“This is a story I’ve long wanted to tell,” said Reiser.  “It’s something of a passion project for me, and I couldn’t be more excited to have found it a home at Mandate.”

Mandate Picture’s Nathan Kahane on working with the team behind 50/50 again:

“We feel privileged to have another opportunity to partner with all of these super talented guys on this hilarious idea,” said Kahane. “Will is an exceptional writer with so many amusing life experiences to pull from and he has a unique instinct to bring out tender moments in comical situations.”

The creative team for 50/50 will reprise their roles for Jamaica. Will Reiser will pen the script while Jonathan Levine will direct. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who co-wrote Pineapple Express and Superbad) will produce. 50/50 is set to release in theaters on September 30.
