The Comeback Val Kilmer Squandered, and soon to be writer of an American Death Note is one of the filmmakers in the running to direct, and most likely to write, Iron Man 3. He has had meetings with Marvel executives on the future of the franchise, as well as his potential vision, should he get such a coveted position. Again, he’s not confirmed to be working on the film; he’s just been to some meetings. If he gets the job, there’s not even any say if he’d write the script, but honestly, if they didn’t let him take a pass at it, Marvel’s nuts.
This could be a good movie. Black’s an intelligent, funny writer with an eye for the big action. Also, I’ve been pulling for him to make a comeback since Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang reminded me that he’s the goddamned man. Also, there’s an old rumor that Robert Downey Jr., hot off of KK BB, went to Black for advice on playing Tony Stark once he got the role, so it’s possible that Black’s already had a hand shaping the series.
