Shocker: Marvel’s Inhumans cancelled by ABC

Despite months of passionate campaigning from the large and loyal fanbase of Marvel’s Inhumans, ABC has cancelled the venerable superhero show. After eight memorable episodes from the man who ruined Dexter, the Marvel Television-IMAX collaboration is no more.

We’re kidding about the show being good, of course. To call Inhumans a turd would be an insult to perfectly good fertilizer.

We watched all of Inhumans so you don’t have to (our review of the first and only season here), and we can safely tell you that you aren’t missing anything important to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. The show featured subpar acting and action choreography, inexplicable music cues, cheap sets, an inconsistent tone, constant and pointless flashbacks, unbearable characters, fluctuating motivations and a bizarre subplot involving weed farmers in Hawaii.

This was a real television show.

The show ended up being a big loss for IMAX, who provided its cameras for the filming of the first two episodes—turns out it wasn’t a great idea to give the showrunner of Iron Fist a second Marvel show. Meanwhile, ABC’s good Marvel show that has a real fanbase, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., is the only ABC show whose fate is unconfirmed.
