Shortlist of directors Fox wants to Die… Hard 5

Four directors are being looked into as potential talent to head the upcoming follow-up to the cinematic masterpiece that wasn’t Live Free or Die Hard. Previously the project was under the helm of Smart People director Noam Murro (what?), but his work on the prequel to 300 (seriously… what?) has forced him to step down. Fox is looking to replace him with Joe Cornish, director of the much-loved Attack the Block; John Moore, director of the much-maligned Max Payne; Nicolas Winding Refn, director of the much-anticipated Drive; or Justin Lin, director of the much-ignored Fast Five. Nearly all of them are currently attached to other big projects at the moment, so it remains to be seen which (if any) of them take on the role. The list is strangely dichotomous. Two generic studio mainstays and two critically acclaimed independent directors? We’ll have to see. The fate of John McClane rests in their hands.
