Sizzle reels for Joe Carnahan’s dead Daredevil reboot

For a while it seemed like a Joe Carnahan Daredevil reboot was on like Donkey Kong, but yesterday we found out that Carnahan’s Daredevil reboot is dead like… Donkey Kong. As the director of The Grey put it on Twitter, “Think my idea for a certain retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero went up in smoke today kids.”

Two sizzle reels for Carnahan’s take on Daredevil have since appeared online, an NC-17 version (above) and a PG-13 version (after the cut). They give us a look at the tone Carnahan would have wanted for his take on the man without fear. It looks like it would have been a 1970s period piece, and the pitch is full of audio and video clips from The Warriors, The French Connection, Superfly, Taxi Driver, and the 2003 Daredevil with Ben Affleck.

What do you think of these pitches? Would you have dug a gritty, 1970s Daredevil movie that was a throwback to the films of that decade?
