Star Wars Celebration debuts Rogue One behind the scenses teaser

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Celebration Reel

Update: Official poster added.

Original: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story might actually excite me more than the the main franchise films. Gareth Edwards directing what is basically a space samurai/war film in the original series time? Take all of my money right now. This first behind the scenes look now allows them to take my money that I don’t have too. It’s gorgeous and looks to bring back that gritty, real feel that the original trilogy had and then expand on it incredibly.

The most telling part, and a possible jab at J.J. Abrams The Force Awakens, is Edwards himself saying,

“The pressure’s so high. We’re making a film that’s touching my favorite movie of all time. But then, if you’re too respectful of it and you daren’t do anything new or different, take some risks…then what are you bringing to the table?”

As I wrote in my review of the The Force Awakens, that’s exactly what I want to see from the rest of the Star Wars films. Force Awakens was a goodbye to the old and now, ironically, this return to the old will wave in the new. Also, Donnie Yen as a blind, martial arts guy? I mean, how can you not be hyped?

SPOILERS BELOW

At the Star Wars Celebration panel, which was livestreamed along with plenty of other events this weekend, a new trailer for Rogue One was also shown and reports say that Darth Vader definitely makes an appearance. It will probably drop for the rest of us in a few days, but until then you can just rewatch the first one.
