Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley in unofficial talks for Tomb Raider reboot

Could Daisy Ridley be the next Angelina Jolie? Maybe not, but she could be the next Lara Croft.

During the Empire Awards in London this past weekend, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens star spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about rumors of the Tomb Raider reboot and her involvement with the project, confirming that there have been unofficial discussions about Ridley inheriting the title of “One Who Raids Tombs.” However, while she confirmed talks have taken place, she’s quick to point out that nothing concrete has been laid out:

“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’ […]”

Ridley’s Star Wars co-star and noted gamer John Boyega supports the idea of Ridley becoming the next Lara Croft, telling THR:

I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version […] But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘This is you!’ and ‘You need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.

With Star Wars: Episode VIII currently filming with Episode IX sure to follow close up, it might be hard for Ridley to fit Tomb Raider into her schedule. However, her apparent excitement for the role and newfound stardom should help streamline the process.

Get those “Tomb Reyder” jokes ready!
