Star Wars: Episode VIII is Fandango’s most anticipated movie of 2017

Fandango held a poll asking what are people’s most anticipated movies of 2017. No surprises, Star Wars: Episode VIII topped the list. Rian Johnson is riding the wave of hype from The Force Awakens and Rogue One, and there will probably be another massive box office for the Star Wars franchise next December.

Other films that showed up on the list included Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Wonder Woman, The Fate of the Furious, and Logan.

It’s mostly comics or sequels making the list, which isn’t surprising since people have set expectations for familiar properties. I doubt most Fandango users are clamoring for Raoul Peck’s I Am Not Your Negro, the domestic release of Asghar Farhadi’s The Salesman, or a full release for Michaël Dudok de Wit & Studio Ghibli’s The Red Turtle.

So it goes.
