Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already made a billion dollars

To no one’s surprise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens still dominated the box office over the holiday weekend. Some saw it for the first time, others their third or fourth outing, it’s certainly made bank as it broke all sorts of box office records. But now, it’s officially the fastest film to reach one billion dollars with $1.09 billion in 12 days (beating out Jurassic World’s thirteen day run). With an estimated $133 million domestic and $153 million worldwide (without including China’s soon to be release) over the weekend, and with a new Star Wars film releasing every year until the heat death of the sun, there’s no signs of slowing down. 

Expect us to make up some crazy denominations for how much money Star Wars will bring in over the next decade. Jillion, kazillion, jumanjillion…sky’s the limit.
