Star Wars-themed kids game show Jedi Temple Challenge coming to Disney+

0

The Mandalorian isn’t the only original Star Wars programming you’ll see on Disney+. A kids game show called Jedi Temple Challenge is in the works for fall 2020. The Hollywood Reporter suggests it could be similar to Nickelodeon’s Legends of the Hidden Temple, a 1990s basic cable game show fondly remembered by nerdy old people.

The Star Wars game show will test contestants’ connection to the Force in three different settings: a forest planet, on a starship, and in a Jedi Temple. There is no word on the nature of these challenges and tests as of now, but it’ll probably involve finding stuff in cluttered rooms in order to move on to the next cluttered room.

Jedi Temple Challenge will be hosted by Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequels. The show will also feature a droid voiced by Mary Holland. In the future, maybe they can do an adult version of the show called Jedi Knight a la Ninja Warrior.

Now, you may have some Jar Jar Binks jokes ready in your snark-cannon right now, but cool it, bucko. I feel a lot of sympathy for Best. He sustained years of misguided prequel nerd rage, and he revealed that the animosity affected his career and even aspects of his personal life. I think Best deserves a second chance. Give that guy a good paycheck for weathering so much unnecessary abuse from poorly adjusted man-children on the internet.

What do you think of a Star Wars-themed kids game show? Any types of events or obstacle courses you want to see? Suggest some in the comments.
