Late Night was the most crowd pleasing, entertaining film of last month’s Sundance Film Festival and this June it is slated to win over the country as Amazon plans to release its prized acquisition nationwide June 7, 2019.
Late Night will be the perfect summer movie for men trying to impress their significant others by proving to them they have an open mind about women in power and in fact they think they are truly underrepresented and should have a greater platform for expressing their ideas and desires. You’re welcome!
Mindy Kaling writes and stars in the film that took 1st place in my top 5 movies of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Late Night centers around Katherine Newbury (Thompson) who is a critically acclaimed late night talk show host who is on the downslide. Newbury refuses to adapt to the times and acknowledge the shift in culture and television. Newbury finally submits and decides to hire her first ever female writer, Molly (Kaling) whose only previous professional experience was working at a factory.
What results is a hilarious, touching, intelligent take on women in the workplace, modern technology and the importance on staying true to yourself.
Late Night was one of three films purchased by Amazon at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The others were Brittany Runs a Marathon and The Report.
