Sundance: Indie Game The Movie to be Indie Game: The Show

I don’t want to take too much credit here, but it does seem like an awfully big coincidence that right after Flixist does an interview with the makers of Indie Game: The Movie and then gives it quite a nice review the filmmakers are offered the chance to turn their film into a TV show for HBO. We don’t expect anything back or any thanks, because we can’t prove that our coverage was the thing that made HBO decide to make a 30-minute, fictional, “comedy” series based on the film, but… you know… we’re just saying.

If the term comedy and fiction don’t quite jive with your perception of the film you’re absolutely correct. Let’s remember two things, though. The first is that it’s HBO and the second is that the film’s creators, Lisanne Pajot and James Swirsky, are totally on board.

“The people involved, the network involved — all are, BY FAR, the best people possible to make this show,” wrote Lisanne and James. “We are ecstatic about the possibilities of working with this team. All you need to do is look at the list of HBO series titles & Scott Rudin’s IMDB and you can see why we think this is a brilliant thing. We want to see this show happen. We want to watch this show.”
