Terminator: Genisys Will Likely Be PG-13

Slight disappointment coming from me (and other fans, I’m sure) as it’s been revealed the next installment of the Terminator franchise — which, apparently, isn’t a sequel or a reboot, it’s just kind of there — will be rated PG-13.

In an interview with The Arnold Fans, Jai Courtney, scheduled to play Kyle Reese in the upcoming Terminator: Genisys, speculated on the film’s rating. “I would love to see it be rated R, but I don’t think it will. I think in this day & age, it’s much more likely to be PG-13. There were no f-bombs. But there’ll be a healthy amount of movie violence,” he said, adding “Hard to imagine a Terminator film without Arnold. I guess we start filming – I think the plan is do the next 2 back to back in 2016.”

I suppose this isn’t terrible news. Terminator: Salvation was rated PG-13, and it was pretty alright. Can we talk about the subtitle, though? What’s the deal? Are we dealing with the Geni system instead of Skynet now or something? Or are they just trying to be unique?

Either way, I’ll be there opening night. Terminator: Genisys is scheduled to land in theaters on July 1st, 2015, the same weekend as Magic Mike XXL. Date night, anyone?
