Thank the American Gods we have a premiere date

At New York Comic Con, fans got their first look at a teaser trailer for the new season of American Gods, but a definitive release date for the sophomore season was withheld until a future date. That future date is now.

Starz announced that the long-awaited follow-up to the hit show will air on March 10th next year. Season one debuted in April 2017 and was quickly renewed for a second before suffering through production difficulties. Showrunners left and were replaced, then sort of fired while scripts were tossed and rewritten. Changing guard in such an early stage of a show’s potential run is nearly impossible to do without a delay, and American Gods is no different. There’s a light at the end of the production purgatory tunnel.

In conjunction with the premiere date, Starz released a poster for the upcoming season, complete with a sacrificial Shadow and a gazing Mr. Wednesday.

Based on the book of the same title by Neil Gaiman, American Gods follows a recently paroled Shadow Moon, who quickly found himself in the employ of a man simply known as Mr. Wednesday. As Shadow falls deeper into Mr. Wednesday’s world, he finds an unseen realm on the verge of a holy war.

American Gods premieres on March 10th, 2019 on Starz.
