Steven Spielberg is in a very select group that, when he announces he’s making a new movie, everyone must stand up and pay attention, and today is one of those moments.  Last night, Deadline announced he has chosen his next movie, an adaptation of the novel Robopocalypse by Daniel H. Wilson scripted by Drew Goddard, writer of Cloverfield as well as numerous episodes of Lost, Alias, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Never heard of the book? That’s because it hasn’t even been published yet, with Doubleday planning on publishing it in June, 2011. Spielberg with begin shooting in January of 2012 with the film to release in 2013.

Robopocalypse, if you couldn’t tell from the title, is about the robot uprising against the human race. As long as it’s more Terminator than I, Robot, I’m so completely in.
