The Beekeeper has dethroned Mean Girls for number-one spot… maybe

0

There is some contention about which film made the number-one spot at the box office this weekend. While most reports put the Jason Statham-helmed The Beekeeper as the winner, Paramount Pictures asserts that Mean Girls managed to take a third number-one win. It’s hard to say, but considering that there is more data to confirm The Beekeeper, I’ll just say that won.

The Beekeeper took in $7.4 million in its third weekend, a decrease of around 14% from last week. Mean Girls nabbed $7.3 million, down 37% from last week. It was an incredibly slow weekend, so no films managed to break $10+ million. Wonka is still holding onto top spots and took third with $5.9 million, a remarkable turn for its fifth weekend.

Going further down the list, it’s mostly the same stuff we’ve seen for the past few weeks. Nothing big has been released in 2024 thus far, so we probably won’t see any shakeups for a bit. Migration took fourth with $5.1 million, Anyone But You came in fifth with $4.8 million, and Poor Things finished sixth with $3 million. The numbers just get smaller from there.

Here are the top 10 films for the weekend of January 26-28, 2024. All totals listed are domestic:

  1. The Beekeeper – $7.4 million
  2. Mean Girls – $7.3 million
  3. Wonka – $5.9 million
  4. Migration – $5.1 million
  5. Anyone But You – $4.8 million
  6. Poor Things – $3 million
  7. American Fiction – $2.9 million
  8. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – $2.8 million
  9. Godzilla Minus One – $2.6 million
  10. The Boys in the Boat – $2.2 million
