The Best Man Holiday getting a sequel because reasons

A few of you may not know that The Best Man Holiday, which almost dethroned Thor: The Dark World its opening weekend, is actually a sequel 14 years in the making. The follow up to 1999’s The Best Man was surprisingly wanted this entire time. And because of The Best Man Holiday‘s success (made about $34 million) and lower budget, news of a sequel (or threequel) shouldn’t surprise you.

Universal is now in talks with Malcolm D. Lee (writer/director) to write and direct a follow up to the film. While I don’t see the appeal of this myself, I can understand that there’s an audience out there. Far be it from me to judge your tastes, but I’m sure the third film in The Best Man Trilogy will do well regardless of what I think.
