The chestburster from Prometheus that could have been

For someone who regularly voices his displeasure for Prometheus, I just can’t seem to bring myself to forget about it, especially when I keep discovering all of the ideas that were cut from the final product. Not too long ago we shared a scene that was in one of the original drafts of the script where Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) happens to have his chest explode all over Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) while they knock boots. Hot.

Well, now we’ve been given a visual aide so we can imagine exactly what Shaw would have seen bursting out of the torso of her lover while in mid-coitus. The full pic is down in the gallery (it’s slightly NSFW because there’s totally dong visible), and — slight spoiler alert — the chestburster itself seems to be a cousin to the alien baby-thing Shaw has surgically removed after the legit sex scene that found its way into the film. 

Personally, I think it’s a bit of a shame that this was cut from the script. I mean, look at that dude! It would have been exceptionally gruesome, but then again I suppose the surgery scene was violent enough in its own right. I just can’t help but feeling that this could have been a truly iconic scene in the movie. It’s not everyday people explode on their partners mid-sex. Oh, wait. Now it sounds like we’re talking about a completely different type of film.
