The D23 poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and news on runtime

There were plenty of major Star Wars announcements at D23 over the weekend. We got a glimpse of the Star Wars: Rogue One cast, for instance, which will star Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forrest Whittaker, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Alan Tudyk, and Mads Mikkelsen. There was also news of a Star Wars Land over at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, which will feature the Mos Eisley Cantina (hopefully droid-inclusive) and the chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon.

But getting back to Star Wars filmstuff, D23 attendees received an exclusive Star Wars: The Force Awakens poster. The poster was illustrated by Drew Struzan, also responsible for all the other Star Wars posters, the Indiana Jones posters, the Blade Runner poster, the Back to the Future posters, and pretty much every other great movie poster since the late 1970s. This is NOT the official one sheet for The Force Awakens, but Struzan is doing the official one sheet, which I assume should be unveiled in the coming weeks.

There was also some news about the current runtime of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Director J.J. Abrams is still in post-production on the film, but at the moment, the movie is clocking in at 124 minutes. That can change, sure, but a two-hour runtime for The Force Awakens sounds solid. In fact, given the unnecessary bloat of many blockbusters in recent years (*gollum* stupid, fat Hobbit *gollum*), two hours sounds thankfully brisk.
