The Dark Knight Rises casting rumours

With details slowly coming out of the woodwork, Nolan’s next Batman installment is remade in the minds of anxious fans on an almost daily basis. Recently, fans were able to give their fantasy film a name–The Dark Knight Rises–and, for weeks, have been able to choreograph imaginary fight scenes between Batman Bale and Inception‘s Tom Hardy, in whatever villain role their little hearts desire. Batman’s nemesis for round 3 has yet to be named, but we do know that it will NOT be The Riddler.

After getting Batman all hot and bothered, fighting crime and pretty boys like Hardy, fans will no doubt be wondering who will be the leading lady that offers Bruce a little sweet lovin’–and the guy has seriously been lacking, has he not? Both Katie Holmes and the infinitely superior Maggie Gyllenhaal rejected Wayne as Rachel Dawes, and every other attempt at lovin’ was an act. With Dawes dead, there’s been an opening in the leading lady department that will hopefully prove more beneficial to the tortured superhero. After getting Batman all hot and bothered, fighting crime and pretty boys like Hardy, fans will no doubt be wondering who will be the leading lady that offers Bruce a little sweet lovin'–and the guy has seriously been lacking, has he not? Both Katie Holmes and the infinitely superior Maggie Gyllenhaal rejected Wayne as Rachel Dawes, and every other attempt at lovin' was an act. With Dawes dead, there's been an opening in the leading lady department that will hopefully prove more beneficial to the tortured superhero. Happily, Pajiba reports that three potential beauties are up for roles in TDKR: Charlize Theron, The Departed's Vera Farmiga, and relative unknown, Kacie Thomas. More after the jump.

Two female roles are currently being cast for TDKR: Julie Madison and Sarah Essen. Theron is reportedly up for the role of Essen, a police detective who partners, in more ways than one, with Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman). Industry enthusiasts may have noticed Theron attached to a few projects that Hardy has also been up for after the Mad Max remake was pushed back, freeing them both up for other projects. Farmiga and Thomas are up for the role of Madison, who in the DC universe, is a law student whose father is targeted by the mob, and whom had an on-off relationship with Wayne. The young, fresh-faced Thomas would perhaps be best suited to playing a law student, but this writer hopes Farmiga is Nolan's choice for Madison. To accomodate Farmiga's obvious maturity, Nolan would perhaps have to negotiate the role a little, but the actress's skill and confident, sexy appeal is a better match for the undersexed Batman.
