By Okay, no, Andy Serkis is not actually playing the tower, much to my own disappointment. Though, I’m sure if he did, there’d be some article praising how he gave the tower some much-deserved characterization, and truly brought the role to life.
Hmm? Oh yeah, Sony’s The Dark Tower has an international trailer out, and within just a month of it’s release. The original trailer seemed a bit too action heavy compared to the books, but this new one has me hooked. I’m not sure what it is, the trailer isn’t that different from the first trailer, and several shots and lines from the first reappear here as well. Maybe I just needed time to process that The Dark Tower of all things was being turned into an action/adventure movie.
I’m actually kind of optimistic for this movie. Idris Elba and Mathew McConaughey could wring some stellar performances out of this movie, and the action looks tight, flashy and fun. Hopefully The Dark Tower delivers when it opens in theaters on August 4th.
