By Awesome news for awesome people here: the guys behind The Guest and You’re Next, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett, are returning with a new film called The Woods. If you haven’t seen their previous films you should get on that right now because they are what awesome is made of. The two filmmakers have breathed some very fresh air into the horror thriller genre and they’ll be returning to it with this new film too.
I have still not seen The Guest, which makes me a bad person, but I’m thrilled to hear The Woods is going to be a return to the horror/slasher genre for the pair. No plot details except for the generic “a group of college students on a camping trip who discover they are not alone.” That might turn you off, but these guys are incredible and subverting horror conventions so I can’t wait to see what they do here.
