The Japan Cuts Film Festival is a thing that is happening

[For the next two weeks, Alec will be covering select films from the New York Asian Film Festival. For complete coverage of the festival, make sure to check out the page for the tag “NYAFF11.” Keep watching throughout the weeks as we bring you more reviews!]

This post is actually a bit late, because the Japan Cuts film festival actually started last Thursday. I am completely justified in not telling you all about it, however, because those first few days were actually also part of the NYAFF. If you wondered, while looking at my introductory post (and of course you did that), why a number of screenings were taking place at the Japan Society, it is because there was an arrangement between the two festivals. Starting tomorrow, however, things change. From July 12th (tomorrow, for those of you incapable of looking at a calender) until July 22nd, there will be a number of screenings at the New York Japan Society. Unfortunately, I will be away, and thus unable to attend and cover their films, but I recommend that all of you go in my place and make me said by telling me about all the great things I’m missing. Regardless, it looks like it will be a great time, especially if you’re a big fan of Japanese cinema, which you should be. Hit the jump for the full schedule of films!
