The Mandalorian’s second season will feature characters from ‘The Skywalker Saga’

With the first season of The Mandalorian concluded, many Star Wars fans noted how pleased they were. While the show wasn’t necessarily groundbreaking, it finally removed itself from the films just enough to feel like a completely original story. There were no gratuitous callbacks or even vague mentions of characters from the films. It was refreshing.

I guess it was too good to last, though.

According to a report from Deadline, showrunner Jon Favreau has confirmed that characters from “The Skywalker Saga” will be making appearances in The Mandalorian’s second season. Considering how much of the blowback to The Rise of Skywalker was how reliant the film was on past tropes, this is likely going to be very disappointing news to many.

At the same time, this could be referring to random people in the background that never got the spotlight (how about that droid in the Cantina?). It could also hint at the return of Boba Fett, possibly the most beloved Star Wars character that has absolutely zero character development in the films. He was the original Mandalorian, after all.

At any rate, if you were tired of references to the past, The Mandalorian is now going to be getting some. Hopefully this second season doesn’t have crappy filler episodes.
