Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that it will be unveiling a trailer for The Matrix Resurrections this Thursday after having debuted it at CinemaCon a few weeks back. Teased on the company’s Twitter account, a link to the Matrix website has given fans short clips from the film that will likely be present in the trailer. It’s certainly a creative AR marketing scheme, I’ll give them that.

The title for the film was revealed a few weeks back when Warner premiered a first look during CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Working on the assumption of a reboot, The Matrix Resurrections will see Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) waking up to a radically different world from the original 1999 film. With new takes on existing characters, it seems to be playing into the idea from The Matrix Reloaded about different loops featuring different outcomes.
It’s definitely a clever way to recycle some concepts while expanding upon them thanks to newer technology. We’re bound to see the robot menace given a new design while also accounting for the tremendous growth computers have been through in the last 20+ years.
The Matrix Resurrections is planned for a December 22, 2021, release in theaters and on HBO Max.
