The Apple TV Plus exclusive The Morning Show has received its first teaser trailer and the premise seems interesting. Starring Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, and Reese Witherspoon, the series will be a fictional look at the behind-the-scenes drama of an early morning news program. All three actors will play broadcasters that are struggling to deliver news in an objective and factual manner that remains true to their core beliefs.
Coming from Media Res, a studio founded by Michael Ellenberg, the drama draws inspiration and ideas from CNN correspondent Brian Stelter’s 2013 novel Top of the Morning. That book was a recounting of the feud between NBC’s Today Show and ABC’s Good Morning America that took place throughout the 2000s. Series showrunner Kerry Ehrin will be producing the show with Michael Ellenberg, Jennifer Aniston, and Kristin Hahn through Echo Films. Reese Witherspoon and Levy Neustadter will also produce through Hello Sunshine.
Apple has currently ordered two seasons of the show with 10 episodes apiece. It will stream exclusively on its service Apple TV Plus when the show premieres later this fall.
