The Russo Brothers would welcome an Avengers re-release when theaters reopen

Movie theaters across the globe are still closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that isn’t stopping Hollywood bigwigs from theorizing about their reopening. With AMC Theaters recently stating it will attempt to reopen for Mulan and Tenet, it seems the Russo Brothers are also looking to get in on the action. Stopping by CinemaBlend this past weekend, the duo stated that they’d love to see both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame return to theaters to welcome audiences back once this whole pandemic winds down.

Joe Russo explained how when the self-isolation lockdown began, they saw Endgame trending on Twitter with fans sharing audience reactions during opening night and were overjoyed. To them, the pure emotion exuberating from the audience was a career highlight and something they’d welcome to see again. “So, using those films to get people back into the theaters? We would be ecstatic. I mean, any opportunity for people to go back and share in those stories together is one that we would support,” Joe Russo stated.

There’s no word on whether this will officially happen or not, but it does seem likely. Chinese theaters were already planning such a release anyway, so Disney would be stupid to pass up this opportunity.
