The Suicide Squad Logo Gets Revealed by James Gunn, Has Bullet Holes

James Gunn is bringing us all the Suicide Squad movie we’ve wanted forever (as long as he doesn’t screw it up) and now, before the big DC FanDome Event coming Aug. 22, he’s dropped what is pretty much a first look: the logo. It’s got the words of the title right there and everything. Sadly, someone shot it a lot.

Gunn was brought it, after being fired from his gig at Marvel, to breathe new life into the franchise, which made a lot of money but was universally panned by nearly anyone who saw the first film. The first movie, titled simply Suicide Squad, was trying hard to be far darker and edgier than this cast of misfits deserved, and if this new logo is any indication this new reboot is going to be a lot more fun. The logo harkens back to the comic’s original run and feels a ton more vibrant than the edge-lord design of the original film’s.

That’s not the only change, of course. Basically the entire cast of the original said “fuck it” and peace out, including Will Smith who will be replaced by Idris Elba as Bullseye. Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney are the only four original cast members returning for this new stint, and really all we needed is more of Jai Courtney’s Boomerang to make us happy.

We should be seeing a lot more from The Suicide Squad at the DC FanDome Event, though exactly what isn’t clear. There could be a teaser trailer as the movie had finished filming before everything shut down for COVID.
