The Toys are back in town for the second time this year

Woody, Buzz, and the gang, having starred in the short Toy Story: Hawaiian Vacation that played before Cars 2, will return in another short film adventure in front of one of my most anticipated films of the rest of this year, The Muppets. The short, titled Small Fry, will revolve around Buzz Lightyear, voiced as always by Tim Allen, being left behind at a fast food restaurant and interacting with a series of low-rent Happy Meal toys, including a Jane Lynch-voiced mermaid. I’d have thought Bonnie would take better care of her toys than that neglectful bastard Andy.

I still haven’t seen Hawaiian Vacation, and I likely won’t until it’s released online or until Cars 2 is released on Blu-Ray, so I don’t know how the Toy Story shorts are so far, but this one will be directed by Angus MacLane, who directed the fantastic short BURN-E from the home release of WALL-E, so there’s nothing to expect than excellence here. Chalk it up to yet another reason to be pumped for The Muppets in November.
