The Twilight Zone movie gets a plot description

When Alex (RIP Alex) first discussed the rumblings of an upcoming Twilight Zone movie (produced by Leonardo DiCaprio), he noted that it would be one coherent (probably not really) story rather than a more sensible collection of stories. I remember thinking that it would be a really bad idea unless that single story was either a mishmash of all of Rod Serling’s stories put together or just a really, REALLY good story. Thanks to the good folks at Vulture, we finally have an idea how the movie is going to play out. I’ll leave it up to you to judge the quality of it:

It follows a test pilot who winds up breaking the speed of light; when he puts down his craft, he discovers that he’s landed a bit late for supper — 96 years late.

Yup, it’s time travel folks. I’m going to go ahead and assume that Looper played a significant role in making time travel popular again. I’m sure the story will have some twist ending (as with most Twilight Zone episodes and hokey Shama the Llama movies), but time travel is so played out now. Everything after Looper is just going to pale in comparison to it, just like how Back to the Future is still hard to top. I’m certain there is better material to mine with a property license like this, so I think that’s why I’m disappointed. What happened to those pig face guys or that robot grandma?
