The Wolverine script to Die Hard

The Wolverine is getting a script rewrite from Mark Bomback, the scribe of Live Free or Die Hard. The original screenwriter was Christopher McQuarrie, who also penned The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie. Since I’m not a huge fan of his overall repertoire and a pretty big fan of Live Free or Die Hard, that + that = good news. Though, obviously a gifted writer, I wouldn’t exactly classify his screenwriting as action-packed. Mark Bomback seems like a much better fit since his writing seems to give the most iconic feel to the characters. I also think Live Free or Die Hard was effing badass in general.

The film is a sequel to 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a movie so bad they just had to make a sequel. It’s like having a can of beans and being two stories high up; you just want to see the splatter as it hits the floor. The sequel is said to have a focus on Japan, inspired by the 1982 comic series by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont. Mark Bomback’s other upcoming scribe credits include Jack the Giant Killer and Total Recall, which, if you’ll “recall” (lol), he also worked on with Live Free or Die Hard colleague, Len Wiseman, so it’ll be exciting to see that reunion as well. The Wolverine will probably begin filming in 2012, but no promises, desperate, malnourished fans of Wolverine.
