The World Ends With You -The Animation- gets a stellar looking teaser

The recently announced The World Ends With You -The Animation- just got a short teaser and holy cow does it look great. This is one of the most faithful anime adaptations of a video game I’ve seen, from a purely visual standpoint. That’s likely because original character designers Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi are returning to lend an air of authenticity to the proceedings.

Developer/publisher Square Enix announced the adaptation last week and fan hype went through the roof. As more information trickled out about the staff behind the production, it started to feel like this would be the end-all-be-all anime adaptation. This first teaser is certainly giving me hope and it seems fans agree with that sentiment.

Some other details from Anime Expo Lite revealed that slight changes are being made to The World Ends With You and its story to flesh it out for a longer runtime. The setting of Shibuya, Tokyo will remain but will take place in the present day instead of 2007.  Composer Takeharu Ishimoto will also return to compose for the series, likely creating new songs for additional scenes.

All in all, it sounds like a real winner!
