This 2001: A Space Odyssey Covid-19 parody video is fantastic

At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent quarantine, someone, somewhere in the mass of media I consumed five months ago said that “the next great American novel is going to be written in the next few months.” While it remains to be seen who is going to write Great Gatsby 2.0, it cannot be denied that we’ve seen a burgeoning of creativity and ingenuity in the time of Covid that we’ve found ourselves in.

I will admit that there were times where my apartment felt like a timeless prison, but never once did I connect my quarantine life to Stanley Kubrick’s sci-fi masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. Lydia Cambron, a Brooklyn-based designer on the other hand did make the connection and made a fantastic tribute to the ending that to this day still astounds me. I don’t know if we’ll see anything else from Lydia in the future, but this was such a fantastic little tribute that I could not let it go unnoticed.
